After signing his new contract this week, Findlay Marshall sat down and spoke to RedTV.

The young midfielder was full of praise for the new Aberdeen manager. The two crossed paths earlier in the season when on his Arbroath debut Findlay helped his side beat the eventual League Cup winners St Mirren on penalties in a Group Stage game after a goalless draw.

“It has been really good working with the new manager.

“He has a style of play that I really think will suit me.

“I have spoken to him quite a few times already and when I have trained with the first team he was really good with me. The manager, along with his assistants have brought a real enthusiasm to Cormack Park, all the boys are behind them and I am really looking forward to going back next season to be involved in it.

“There is a real energy at the training ground. You can tell how much the players are enjoy it and also how much they want to keep improving. When you have all that, people who come in and want to make you better, and are really enthusiastic about it, it gives the whole place a lift and there is a real buzz.

“The manager’s training sessions are very good. They are really detailed. They are also very hard work! But as I say very detailed and I was impressed by that. You can tell even just on the training pitch, he likes players who get stuck in, and want to win, even in the mini games!

“When he came in I was looking forward to working with him, but I was not 100% sure what that would mean for me. From the first day he told me I was training with the first team and spoke to me. He spoke to me about how I had been doing and mentioned how goals I had scored. That gave me a great lift, the fact he knew all about me.

“After speaking to players at Arbroath who have worked with him, I also know he is a manger who gives young players a chance. I feel that I am ready and hopefully I will get that chance and repay the confidence he has shown in me.”
