Findlay Marshall has agreed a new deal with Aberdeen.
The AFC Youth Academy graduate, who has been in prolific form for loan club Arbroath this season, has put pen to paper on an extension that will see him remain at Pittodrie until at least 2028.
A local lad, Findlay is pleased to be part of new Dons boss Stephen Robinson’s plans.
The youngster, who celebrates his 20th birthday today, said: “I’m really excited to sign the new deal and I can’t wait to kick on.
“I’ve always wanted to stay here and play for the Aberdeen first team. I feel like I’m very close now and hopefully I can make that step up.
“This season with Arbroath has really helped me improve and grow in many ways, and I believe it’s prepared me well for the next stage of my career.
“At one point I thought the opportunity to play for this club might have passed, but I was determined not to give up on that dream.”
Having joined the Youth Academy at Under‑12 level, Findlay was also part of the SFA Performance School at Hazlehead.
After signing his first professional contract in the summer of 2022, he was rewarded with a three‑year contract extension in 2023.
Loan spells with Edinburgh City and Cove Rangers helped pave the way for his move to Arbroath this season, where he has made a significant impact in the highly competitive Scottish Championship. Findlay has netted 14 goals and played a key role in the Red Lichties’ push for the promotion play‑offs.
With 81 competitive appearances over the last two years, the experience gained has helped him mature both on and off the pitch and prepare for the demands of full‑time football with the Dons.
Manager Stephen Robinson has been impressed by the midfielder’s progress this season.
“Findlay has shown huge determination and resilience over the last twelve months,” he said.
“He’s really demonstrated what he’s capable of during his time at Arbroath and it’s important he continues to build on that as he develops.
“We want to have a strong, home‑grown identity within our squad and Findlay fits that mould perfectly. He’ll return for pre‑season ready to show he can be part of the first‑team group.”
