Midfielder Eva Thomson previewed Sunday’s Scottish Gas Women’s Scottish Cup Third Round tie against Falkirk.

“I think it has been quite a tough few weeks for us, so it was a good time to go away and reflect and come back ready for a Scottish Cup.

“We look to beat all the teams around us and obviously the past few results have not gone our way, but it just shows that the league is so competitive and if we want to get results then we need to work on things. It is showing how competitive the league is and that every game is going to be really tough and no game is going to be easy.

“It is nice that we get a bit of a distraction with cup football this weekend, something different.

“It is not going to be an easy game. Falkirk are doing well in their league. We cannot go in with the mindset that we are just going to win because they are two leagues below. We have analysed them and they look a strong team. We need to take the positives from the past few games, even though the results did not go our way, take those positives and hopefully get a result and get back to winning ways. A win would do a lot to boost the confidence in the team.

“We saw a little bit of video footage on them. We looked at that last night and then we worked a bit in training on shaping and how we are going to set up against them. We did not get as much footage as we would from teams in our league, but we know what is coming and we know what we need to do if we want to get a result and get into the next round of the cup.

“You never know what can happen in the cup, look at last year. We got to the semi-final and got to play at Hampden. To do that again would be a big achievement, but you just take every game as it comes and hopefully we can match what we did last season because it was a big achievement for the club.

“One thing we have been missing recently is scoring goals. We have been playing well and getting into the final third but it is just that final ball or not being clinical enough in front of goal. That is what we need, players to get goals again, get the job done, and then focus on the league after that.
