Dundee Reaction | Stephen Glass

“Frustratingly, it’s the same story as it has been since the start of the season. Being too easy to score against and not taking the right options at the other end of the pitch. As a group, we are not strong enough nor resilient enough defensively at the moment, and that is costing us games. “Things ran away from us quickly after the first goal. We switch off for a second and Griffiths sticks it in the net. He’s a great finisher but he’s not going to run away from anybody, so if defensively we were correct, he’s not going to get that opportunity.

“You can show players what the threat will be, you can warn them of the situations that will come up, but when players make poor decisions on the pitch, it costs you games. It’s important that  changes quick or there will be a continuation of this because we come up against good players every week. We’re being severely punished for the opportunities that we give up, but that’s the reality of playing at the top level.

“The fans were brilliant, they came in big numbers in terrible weather, they spend good money to come and their support in the first half was fantastic. Then in the second half, they respond to what they see from us. I’m the front man for it all, and I totally understand the criticism that comes.

“What I do is back myself and back these players to put things right. We’ve put together a really good squad that shouldn’t be losing the games they are at the minute, and they are more than capable of getting out of the hole.

“Decision making is suffering because of a lack of confidence, at both ends of the pitch and those decisions win and lose you games. At the moment, we’re not making enough good decisions. I can’t criticise the work they put in and their willingness to give everything they can, but the decision making isn’t good enough at present, that’s the reality. But it can be rectified.

“You can’t take any positives when you come to Dundee and lose, but at the same time, Jack MacKenzie was fantastic. You saw a 20 year old playing as if he was 30, Ramsay was good in the first half as well, and they’re young players who have, in all honesty, been let down by senior players. They’re the future of the club and they’ve performed brilliantly.”
