Aberdeen were unfortunate to suffer defeat against a strong Glasgow City side at a blustery Balmoral Stadium.

The hosts tried their hardest to play the ball for sole striker captain Stewart in the opening stages.

City grabbed their first of the afternoon 16 minutes in. Some well-worked passes on the right was met by Emily Whelan to strike the ball into net.

In the 33rd minute the visitors grabbed their second through Aleigh Gambone. The midfielder finding the path to goal with a strong strike.

Aberdeen’s chances of a comeback proved tougher to reach 40 minutes in when Whelan grabbed her second of the game.

City’s left midfielder thought she had a hat trick at the end of the first half as she headed the ball into goal. Fortunately she was standing in offside position.

Leanne Ross’ side continued their dominance in the second half, with Chloe Warrington getting a goal from a fine strike outside the box.

The fifth and final goal came 79 minutes in, when substitute Fulton waltzed her way into the box before slotting the ball past Sidey for the game.

Aberdeen did have the opportunity to grab a consolation late on

Ogilvie cleverly managed to get the ball away from the City defence and drove towards goal. She crossed the ball towards Kraft who sadly saw her shot go wide.

A tough afternoon for Aberdeen who travel to Glasgow next weekend to face league newcomers Queens Park.
