Aberdeen Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Nathan Flight as the Club’s new Head of Women’s and Girls’ Football.
Nathan takes up the role having previously been Head Coach of the women’s first team at HamKam Fotball in Norway, where he helped guide the Club to promotion to 1. Divisjon. He brings extensive experience across the women’s game, with previous roles in coaching, academy leadership and performance analysis in Scotland, Norway and England.
A UEFA A Licence holder, he has built a strong reputation for player development, creating high-performance environments and establishing clear pathways between youth and senior football.
In his new role, Nathan will lead all aspects of Aberdeen FC’s Women’s and Girls’ programme, overseeing the continued development of the Girls’ Academy and AFC Women’s first team while helping shape the Club’s long-term vision for the women’s game.
The position was created as part of an overarching commitment to build a balanced squad, reinforcing a pathway for Academy graduates into professional football, whilst adding the quality required to be competitive in the SWPL 1 next season.
“I am proud to have been given this opportunity & excited about the challenges which lie ahead”, said Nathan.
“From the moment I spoke to the Club about this role it was clear that our values and vision for the future are aligned and that what I can offer in this role matches well with the wider objectives.
“Aberdeen is a Club with a huge tradition, a rich history, and a fantastic fanbase. I am going to give everything I have to ensure the Women's & Girls’ programme is one which we can all be proud of."
Commenting on the appointment, Aberdeen FC Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel said:
“During an extensive recruitment process, Nathan stood out to us because of his experience and his clear vision for player development. He understands the importance of creating a strong connection between the Academy and the first team and shares our ambition to continue growing the Women’s and Girls’ programme.
“We look forward to working with Nathan as we navigate this new pathway for the Women’s and Girl’s’ programme and believe he is the right candidate to help lay the foundations for future success both on and off the pitch.”
Everyone at Aberdeen Football Club would like to wish Nathan every success in his new role.
