“I think if there was another five minutes we would have won the game, there was a real ascendancy there and I couldn’t have been more proud of the players for the way that they kept going. They showed real perseverance and real determination as they could easily have chucked it at 3-1, it could be a very important point for us.
“The determination of the players and the never say die attitude to keep going is really refreshing for me and although I am not surprised it is still nice to see all the same.
“We started the game brilliantly, we could have been more than one goal up in a game that we were totally dominant in but you have got to give credit to Dundee for their first two goals. Their third goal had an element of luck with the deflection but the first two goals certainly were good goals from their point of view.
“We are disappointed with them but it is difficult to criticise the boys too much because of how well they have been doing.
“At half time we knew there was work to be done and I asked for cool heads and confidence, we started the half well and Adam Rooney hit the post. Then the sucker punch went in and we had it all to do after that.
“When we did get the second goal the crowd really got into it and it shows what can be done here with the noise and the support behind us.
“The equaliser was no more than the players deserved and I am delighted for them because they could easily have gave up and looked ahead to next week thinking it wasn’t our day.
“The subs had an impact, all three came on and gave us something, and they brought us energy and created a spark. It was a good attitude from the players in the second half and I felt for the majority of the match we were the team on the front foot although we had to beware of Dundee on the counter attack.
“It’s part of our makeup that we never know when we are beat, we know that we might not always win the game but today we probably just ran out of time for the win. From 3-1 down with 5 minutes to go it is a brilliant point for us. Before the game we looked at it as a game that we could win and if we defended better we probably should have won.”
