The Dons latest recruit, Kenny McLean met the media along with manager Derek McInnes on Wednesday

“There was a lot of speculation about my future throughout the month of January. It was not until Sunday I heard from my agent about the interest from Aberdeen. Then it was just a case of coming up on Monday and getting my medical done. As soon as I heard there was an interest from Aberdeen I wanted to get the move done. I am looking forward to being part of this club going forward.
“Aberdeen is a club with massive ambition. The gaffer has shown that with some of the signings he has made. There is a lot of strength in this squad. There is no doubt this club is on the up.
“One of the reasons for coming was the ambition the manager has shown.
“From playing against Aberdeen you can see how strong they are. Where the club are sitting in the league table at the moment shows how well they have done this season. I am here to hopefully strengthen that.
“The way that Aberdeen play should suit me. They like to play attacking football. They are always creating chances. Hopefully I can chip in with a few goals.
“I was part of the club for three years up until I was 15 at the Glasgow centre under Peter Weir. There are a few boys here, like Ryan Jack, Nicky Low and Clark Robertson, who I played with so it will be a massive help having familiar faces about the place. It is now great to be back here after things had gone a different way.
“The team is doing well, there is a massive fan base at the club, on a bigger scale, and it will be a great move going forward. I just want to keep progressing.”
“We will just have to see what happens between now and the end of the season. We will take one game at a time and see where it takes us. We have 15 games to go starting with Ross County on Saturday and we will try and finish as strong as we can.”
Derek McInnes
“I am absolutely delighted to bring Kenny here. It is a very good bit of business bringing Kenny in. I thought it was something that we may not be able to do but the move gathered a bit of momentum on Sunday and thankfully he has committed himself to a three and a half year deal.
“He is a player I have mentioned to the Chairman and the Board for a number of months now. He was always someone we thought we could have a little go at in the summer but we felt we could take advantage of this window and when we got a bit of encouragement on Sunday we made our move.
“It’s great we have secured a good young Scottish player, and he is coming here to work with some other good players. We will develop him and look to get a level of performance from him on a weekly basis. He has already shown during his time at St Mirren what an important a player he can be and we hope he will be that player for us.
“I think the window has been good to us. We have got Donervorn Daniels in on loan until the end of the season. He had other options so we are pleased he chose to come here. He will prove his worth. We have got Graeme Shinnie on a pre-contract and he will come and work with us in June and now we’ve got Kenny.
“I would like to thank the board and the Chairman for making it happen. There is no doubt we have got a good deal here. We have got very good value for what he paid. He is one of the best young Scottish players going about at the moment.”
