Dante Polvara was the player who spoke to the media on Friday ahead of the Dons Scottish Cup Fifth Round tie against Bonnyrigg Rose at Pittodrie.
“It is obviously a tough transition the first week there is a managerial change with all the uncertainty but since the new gaffer has come in, he has brought some great energy to the team. He is also trying to get that belief and confidence back into us, which we have shown at times this season but when results go against you it is tough to keep that going. He has made it clear what he wants and there is a lot we need to improve on. All the boys are looking forward to playing for him and although we only have so many games when he is charge, it means every one counts.
“The new manager is very ambitious. He has made it clear he would love to win a trophy, like we all would. I think that is a great mentality. We know tomorrow is a very important game for us and for him. He has a very good reputation when it comes to man-management and we have seen that so far. He is good at picking you up and let you know that you are important to him and part of his plans for the next few months. He wants to get the best out of you and ultimately that is the way he will get the best out of us.
“He brings a great energy to the place which is what we needed and of course also a great deal of experience and leadership which can only help us.
“The manager is looking forward to the next few months. We are looking forward to it.
“The one I have learned is that there are no easy games in Scotland. Even although we beat Clyde 2-0 it was not an easy game, it was not straight forward by any means. It is something we are very aware of going into game tomorrow. We have the utmost respect for Bonnyrigg and we will approach the game as we would any league game. It is no different. Just because they are not in our division, they have made it this far in the cup for a reason.
“As we have seen in the past these cup games can be more challenging that expected. At the end of the day, it is 11 men v 11 men, so you always have to break it down to that. They will come and make it difficult for us.
“If we are able to get an early goal, that always helps ease the pressure and bring that confidence. It may not be as straight forward as that so you have to be prepared for what ever might happen and deal with it.
“We have to stick to our game and trust the quality we have in the team.”
