Club expresses thanks

We would like to place on record the support we have received from the Scottish FA and the rest of Scottish football during what has been a difficult week. In Peru, Neale’ passing had a big impact on the group, in particular on the Scottish FA President, Alan McRae, the Club Chief Executive Duncan Fraser, the Aberdeen players in the squad and of course Alex McLeish, who all knew Neale well.

It was touching to see the players and backroom team come together before training on Wednesday and be led in a short prayer and moment of reflection by Minister Angus Lamont, a Scotsman based in Lima, in honour of Neale and his family.

The black ribbon, wore by the players during the warm up at the Estadio Nacional and by the coaching staff throughout the game also symbolised their support.

These efforts, alongside the touching statements published by clubs and individuals across the game and beyond show that Scottish football cares and that it can come together during difficult times.

For that, we are very thankful.
