AFC Join Buckie High School’s Buddy Training Day
This morning saw Buckie High School’s annual ‘Buddy Training Day’ take place with sixty S4 pupils giving up their time during study leave to learn about ways to help next year’s new intake of S1 pupils. Whilst Aberdeen FC’s Youth Academy is drawing to a close for the season, our Head of Junior Academy, Gavin Levey was once again a guest speaker at the event. Having supported this initiative for a total of eight years, Gavin delivers both a theory and practical workshop focusing on the key skills required when helping youngsters to fulfill their potential. The Buddy Programme at Buckie High School provides new S1 pupils with an S5 ‘Buddy’ who help them with the transition from Primary to Secondary school.
The pupils involved in today’s training day will all have a key subject, such as P.E, Maths or Music, where they will be responsible for helping a youngster overcome any difficulties they might find when learning. Commenting on the initiative, Gavin said, “This is a great project that the school organise and one that is always very popular with the older pupils who wish to give something back to the school they attend. The staff and pupils are excellent to work with and their enthusiasm is the reason I keep coming back each year.”
Aberdeen FC is delighted to have this link to the Buddy Training at the Buckie High school and wish all those involved all the very best for next term.
