Dons defeated at Pittodrie

Aberdeen v Falkirk | Brad Lyons

ABERDEEN 0 FALKIRK 1 SPFL Premiership Wednesday October 28 2026 Pittodrie Ref: Calum Scott Attendance: 14,007 Falkirk found the only goal of the game at Pittodrie to inflict defeat on the Dons. Following defeat at Tannadice, Aberdeen made two changes, Dan Happe and Lewis Smith coming in for the injured Connor Ronan, Jack Milne starting on the bench. The bench included the returning Kristers Tobers, back after 13 months out. Falkirk beat Kilmarnock 3-0 on Saturday and were unchanged for the game at Pittodrie. On a crisp autumnal evening in Aberdeen, both sides started brightly enough, moving the ball around, but without really carving out any opportunities. The Dons won a couple of corners in quick succession after a dozen minutes, and from the second, Afeez Aremu pounced on a loose ball to strike a ferocious shot at goal which were blocked by Melniks. Happe was booked after 17 minutes, a late challenge on Melniks. From the resulting free-kick, the Dons were away on a scintillating break. Aremu broke forward and played out to Stuart Armstrong. His low cross was into the run of Kevin Nisbet, but his side-footed finish struck a defender. The ball spooned up to Chris Cadden but his header was saved. Henderson seemingly took a head knock at a Falkirk corner after 24 minutes and took some lengthy treatment both on and off the pitch before continuing. Ayoub Mouloua had a real chance on the half hour. Chasing the ball with Henderson, Mouloua was too strong for him and won it in the box. A dozen yards out, he didn’t get enough on a shot that was straight at the goalkeeper. Falkirk created an opening through Eames on 33, quick feet giving him a chance to pull the ball back into Barbrook’s path. His shot from ten yards out took a deflection and it was a comfortable save for Marius Muller. McCann went down with a thigh injury after 37 minutes and he was replaced by Tanser. Aberdeen were in trouble on 40 after Gavin Molloy mishit a pass straight to Ross. He advanced and let fly from 25 yards, Muller parrying behind. From the corner, Aberdeen half cleared, but then it was back in from Ross. Melniks got on the end of it from eight yards and from his header, Muller made a fine save away to his left. Cadden was inches away from a goal in the 42nd minute. Good hold up play from Mouloua allowed the right-back to get forward and run onto his backheel. Cadden’s shot took a deflection and that took it just over the bar. From the corner, Aberdeen recycled the ball, both Happe and Nesta Guinness-Walker going down under challenges in the box, nothing given. HALF-TIME: ABERDEEN 0 FALKIRK 0 Cadden went down injured in the 49th minute and he was immediately replaced by Nicky Devlin, Cadden going straight down the tunnel for further treatment. On 57, Findlay Marshall and Hicham Mahou replaced Aremu and Smith. An Aberdeen break in the 62nd minute saw Mahou stretching his legs down the left. Cutting inside, he didn’t get enough on his shot and it was easy for Bain. A minute later, Brad Lyons looped a 30 yarder well over the bar. Melniks and Murrell made way for Parkinson and Krauhaus on 66 minutes. At the same time, Mouloua and Happe were replaced by Milne and Toyosi Olusanya. Eames was booked in the 69th minute for scything Olusanya down off the ball. Falkirk were in front on 73. A deflection spooned the ball up into the air. Muller came for it and punched rather than catching the ball. Falkirk recycled the ball out to Strain and his low cross picked out Krauhaus, and he produced a crisp first time finish from 15 yards. Aberdeen could have levelled it up on 77, a break down the right seeing Bain pawing at Devlin’s cross. It dropped for Lyons but his shot from close range was blocked. Ross and Eames made way for Fodrey and McLeod after 79 minutes. McLeod was booked within a minute for going through the back of Guinness-Walker. Krauhaus followed him in for a high boot on Marshall. Spencer was booked for time wasting in the 89th minute. Four minutes of added time came and went as the visitors saw out the game comfortably.
