“It is my first national semi-final and I am very excited about the game. We have had a good week. We have built up some momentum in recent weeks and the boys are confident.

“Going to Hampden is going to be special. Any games I have watched from there on TV, there seems to be a special atmosphere. I know we are going to take a good support down there and they will create a good noise.

“I am in a good place at the moment. I am feeling good. Hopefully I can gain a bit of rhythm with the more games that pass. I am desperate to start games but I am happy to be contributing towards a success team. A team that is getting better and better each week feel.

“All the lads are looking really sharp and there are a lot of players in form at the moment so I think a lot of players can make a case for being in the starting XI. There are several boys on the bench desperate to show what they can do. There are also a lot of good young lads who are close as well.

“Having Ryan Jack back is brilliant. He brings so much to the team. He is quality. You see that in training day in day out. He is a great captain and a great guy to have about the place. He is very approachable. He is a really good player and that is why he is the captain of such a big club.

“I knew a little bit about James Maddison after his transfer to Norwich. It did not take him long to show the class that he has got, the ability to move ball and the special things that he can do.

“The most important thing is getting on the coach after the game and being in the final. That is the main thing. From the first minute we want to stamp our authority on the game and bring that intensity that has got us on this good run. I am sure the fans will help us do that.

“Morton have played a lot of games to get to the semi-final so they know how to play under pressure. They must be a good resilient side if they have got to this stage and must have a lot of quality. We will treat them with the utmost respect that they deserve being this far in the competition.

“We have prepared the same way that we would do for any game. In terms of preparation this is one of the best clubs I have been at. We analysis the strengths and weaknesses of our opponents in great detail. But that is just a small percentage of it. The staff work extremely hard to make sure we have all the information we need before going onto the field and into the games.”
