Aberdeen FC chief executive Alan Burrows is stepping down from the Club after three and a half years at the helm for family reasons.

Chairman Dave Cormack said: “It goes without saying that Alan leaves with our very best wishes. Personally, I’ve enjoyed working with Alan, who has been a lead-from-the-front chief executive and someone who has put his heart and soul into the role.

“The Club is in a much better commercial position because of his leadership. Thanks to Alan’s drive, determination and enthusiasm, we’ve made significant strides in many areas, most notably fan engagement, creating a stronger platform on which to build for the future.

“On behalf of the Board, I’d like to thank Alan for all his efforts and reiterate that he will always be welcome at Pittodrie.”

During Alan’s time at the Club, Aberdeen FC played in four consecutive cup semi-finals, recently reached a fifth, won the Scottish Cup for the first time in 35 years, reached a League Cup final, finished third in the Scottish Premiership, and qualified for European group stages twice for the first time in almost two decades.

On the commercial side, the Club achieved a record number of season ticket sales in 2023/24, then broke that record in 2025/26, and delivered a 40% increase in commercial revenue.

Commenting on his time with the Dons, Alan said: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being at Aberdeen and want to place on record my sincere thanks to Dave and the Board for giving me the opportunity to lead this great Club over the past three and a half years.

“I’ve had the privilege of working with a phenomenal group of staff, past and present, across Pittodrie and Cormack Park. Their achievements, on and off the pitch, are something I’m immensely proud to have been a part of. I want to thank each one of them for their hard work, determination, and willingness to innovate and embrace change.

“I’ve had so many fantastic memories, none more special than that unforgettable weekend of 24 May 2025 — that will live with me forever.

“Lastly, I want to thank the supporters and sponsors for the warmth and kindness they’ve shown to me and my family from the moment I arrived. Aberdeen is a brilliant city in a wonderful part of the world, and I’ll always look forward to returning.”

The Club will provide an update on the search for a new chief executive in due course.
