AFCCT Get Outdoors Launch

On Tuesday 18th November Aberdeen FC Community Trust launched a brand new programme for people over the age of 65.

'Get outdoors' is the latest programme to offer support and opportunity for members of the community over the age of 65 and follows on from the success of the Trust's summer programmes, Pittodrie Health Walks and AFC in The Park.

AFCCT have been able to run these programmes thanks to funding from Aberdeen City Council and the NHS’s Change Fund, which provides organisations the funds to help keep people over the of 65 active, healthy, and also provide the opportunity to make new friends and interact with people of similar age throughout the year.

During the summer a group of 24 Health Walkers walked a combined total of over 700 miles visiting different places such as Crathes Castle, Drum Castle and Aberdeen Art Gallery. They also visited various parks in Aberdeen and took part in different activities such as Yoga, Active Arts & Crafts, Street Drumming, Belly Dancing, and Rock n Roll Dancing!

The new 'Get Outdoors' programme will offer Health Walks from Pittodrie and around the city centre, AFC In The Park trips, and also an Active Reminiscence programme where we visit places of interest in and around Aberdeen.

The programme is open to anyone over the age of 65, and sessions are totally free!
