Aberdeen Women 4-0 Hamilton Academical SWPL1 Balmoral Stadium Sunday 10 May

Aberdeen Women defeated Hamilton Academical 4-0 at The Balmoral Stadium on Sunday afternoon in their final home fixture of the 2025/26 season.

With The Dons already relegation play-off bound and the opposition already relegated, there was little at stake in terms of the table, but Aberdeen ensured they got the job done with aplomb: goals coming from Darcie Miller, Francesca Ogilvie, Hannah Stewart, and Bridget Galloway.

Scott Booth made three changes to his side that lost to Montrose.

Toni Finnegan, Eva Thomson and Miller all returned, with Aimee Black and Hannah Stewart dropping to the bench. Abi Tobin, an ever-present throughout the campaign so far, missed out with a knock.

The Dons led after nine minutes, Miller on the scoresheet.

The forward showed good strikers’ instincts to pounce on the rebound after Naomi McLaughlin’s effort was spilled, the number 25 bundling over from close range for her third goal of the season against Accies.

It was Aberdeen who continued to dominate proceedings throughout the opening half, creating a few half chances without working Nicolson in the Hamilton goal too hard. McLaughlin blazed over from a good position on 24’.

Miller perhaps could have had her brace after 30 minutes when she found herself through one on one with Nicolson, her effort eventually smothered by the ‘keeper and scampered to safety.

Brodie Greenwood came close not long after, her long-range effort striking the woodwork. There was almost time for another before the break, this time Ogilvie making the crossbar reverberate.

A rare Hamilton venture up the park before the half was out forced a first stop of the game from Katie Cox who turned behind for a corner.

Half-time: Aberdeen 1-0 Hamilton.

One became two right at the start of the second 45, stand in captain for the day Ogilvie heading beyond Nicolson from an Aberdeen corner.

It looked like the roof might cave in on Hamilton soon after, Miller passing up another good chance to make it three.

Accies were forced into swapping their keeper just before the hour, Nicolson forced off and Paton introduced.

It was The Don’s turn to go to the bench next on 66’: Bridget Galloway and Stewart on, Thomson and Miller off.

The action was in short supply as the game continued to trundle towards the full-time whistle. Aimee Black and Alex Clarke were introduced for the last 15, Finnegan, who had gone down earlier, and Mia Selbie making way.

There was almost an instant impact from Clarke who’s shot at the end of a darting run was parried by Paton, her follow up effort also blocked.

Stewart grabbed the third of the afternoon on 80’, pouncing on a loose ball that sat up nicely for the captain in the middle of the box to slam high and into the roof of the net.

Three was suddenly four, again the substitutes causing chaos for Accies.

Clarke did well to get the down the line and deliver to the patiently waiting Galloway, the Geordie spinning sharply before applying the finish on 87’.

It could have been more after a flurry of half chances came and went at the death.

Full-time, Aberdeen 4-0 Hamilton.
