Aberdeen Women manager Scott Booth shared his thoughts after his side beat Hamilton Academical 4-0 on Sunday afternoon.
“The players took on board a lot of the stuff that we’d worked at in training in the game today, and it was pleasing to see, because I think there’s been certain games where we’ve set up in a certain way and we just haven’t been able to deliver that, and I feel like today we were able to do it.
“I think we were good in possession the majority of the time. I think your only slight negatives, I think was that we just got a little bit complacent at times. We dropped the tempo of the play at times, but the team did pretty much everything it was asked.
“It was good to see Bridget back. She’s had a hamstring injury and we nursed her back into it. She definitely offered us something a bit different.
“Alex Clarke, her game is becoming clearer to her, which is pace and keeping the game simple and direct, and I think when she does that, she’s effective.
“It was good to get Naomi playing a full game. Toni’s had a bit of an injury and she’s come back in. Darcie had an injury and she got 70 minutes; Hannah comes on and got her goal. I think it was a really positive day. “Darcie had been training well and looking good prior to getting the injury. And then it’s taken a while to get her back in.
“In the last couple of weeks in training she’s been looking hungry and she’s still not yet 100%. I think she actually, to give her credit, I think was feeling it a little bit before the game and she wanted to continue, and she was given her reward with a good striker’s finish.
“It’s been tough for the players as well, because in 2026, we’re now almost in the middle of May and we’ve played six games. So that’s actually really difficult, because there’s no rhythm for players.
“Players like rhythm, players prefer to play games than to train. So, I definitely think that’s something for the powers that be to be looking at for next season, the lack of continuity and consistency for players to go and actually play in the bottom half of the table.
“I think Motherwell will be a tougher test for us. I think they’re a good side and they will definitely offer a tougher test. But I think that we obviously want to keep that positivity going and get a good performance and a good result next week. Then it is a case of watching carefully, seeing who we get in the play-off.”
