Adam Rooney spoke to RedTV after the defeat at Celtic Park.
“It is very disappointing to have another defeat down here and very disappointing because it was not a 4-1 scoreline. We conceded the two late goals. I did not think it was a penalty and the last one left us completely deflated.
“The two goals late on obviously effected the scoreline but it is not a true reflection of the score.
“Anybody who wasn’t at the game will look at the result and think we got battered. But that wasn’t the case. We played well in spells.
“We can take a lot of positives from the game.
“I think for long spells of the game we frustrated them and we had our own chances as well. On another day I think we could have gone on and got something.
“After we equalised, we had a ten-minute spell when they looked a bit rattled. They then get the second with a sucker punch. Second half we got into their faces a bit more. We mixed the game up and we had a couple of chances.
“There are different ways to play against Celtic. We sat off them early on and frustrated them. We limited the opportunities for them to have the ball in and around the box. We restricted them to longer range efforts but they showed they have a couple of guys who can really strike a ball.
“We decided to press and I thought we looked good and it was a different game.
“As I say we have to take positives from it. We have been beaten at Celtic Park by three and four goals before and then have beaten them at our own place.
“We just have to look forward to the next game against them.
“We have a break now. We have to regroup, take any positives we can from the game and look forward to the rest of the season.
“Hopefully the international break gives us a chance to get a few days off to recover. We have all been in since the start of June. It will give us a bit of a chance to regroup after the Europa League. We will get some fresh legs and some fresh minds.
“Ryan Jack is a big player for us. Hopefully he’s only out for a couple of weeks.
“The lads have come in and filled in for him. We have a much stronger squad than we had a couple of years ago. We have lads who can come in and do a job. Jonny Hayes is out and we’re missing Peter Pawlett. They will come back. It’s all good looking forward.”
