“I heard recently there was a bit of interest from clubs in Scotland. I heard Derek McInnes was interested. I have been keeping an eye on the games in Scotland this season and Aberdeen have been very impressive. I watched the recent game against Hibs live on tv. I thought they looked very strong and solid. There seemed to be a good crowd and a good atmosphere. I see the average attendance is over 12,000 which is brilliant. I used to always enjoy the games at Pittodrie when I was at Inverness because of the crowds.
“So I was very impressed with the club and as soon as I heard that Derek was interested I could not wait to speak to him.
“You have to weigh up all your options but I was very impressed with what the manager had to say, the way he went about things and his plans for the future. The team are flying at the moment and I am coming into a great dressing room. There is some great quality in there and I saw that at first hand on the training pitch this morning. Every player is of a good quality and has a good work ethic.
“I used to play with Jonny Hayes when I was at Inverness and I have kept in touch with him. He has really enjoyed himself in Aberdeen and spoke very highly of the club, the management team, the squad, the supporters and what can be achieved here. I know Willo as well and he spoke about the great spirit in the dressing room and the atmosphere around the club. Everything seems to be going well so it is important we build on that.
“There are a lot of big games coming up in the next couple of weeks so there is a lot to look forward to. As a player they are the games you want to be involved in. The main thing is though we have a big game on Saturday against Motherwell. The focus must be to get three points at Fir Park so we can build up some momentum again after the defeat last week. As with every player I hope I am involved at some stage and can help the team get a win.
“I always set myself targets but I keep them to myself!”
