Aberdeen v Celtic Preview | Kenny McLean

Kenny McLean on RedTV “It is very important that we finish the season strongly. “The last couple of seasons that has not been the case. We want to put that right. We have almost secured second spot so we know want to finish strongly to highlight how well we have done by having a points difference from the other teams. “We have three games to go and we will be looking to win all three. We are confident we can do that. “I would argue that there is a lot at stake for this game as we want to have momentum going into the final. That is what it is all about now.

“It is very important that we finish the season strongly.

The final is the biggest game we have left, it is the biggest game of the season but we still want to get a result tomorrow night. We have not taken anything from Celtic this season and we are disappointed with that. I feel we have the players and the ability to get something from the game.

“Of course Celtic have had a fantastic season, they are trying to remain unbeaten and they want to win a treble but it is up to opposition teams to stop them. I believe we are best team to do that. So that is what tomorrow will be all about.

“Momentum is massive going into the final so the last three games are big for us.

“We have done well in spells in the games against them but ultimately, we have not taken any points. Whether we have played well in the league games against them is irrelevant, we have not taken any points. You want to play well and win games and when you don’t win you are disappointed. If we can win games it will give us confidence going into the final.

“Celtic have been outstanding, the best team in the league by far this year. So we know it is going to be a tough task and we are going to be up against it but we have got the ability in the squad to cause Celtic problems.

“Amongst the staff and the players, we know we have got the ability in that dressing room to get a positive result against them. And that is what it is all about. It would be good to put down a marker to show how well we have done this season.

“Whatever team Celtic put out tomorrow, we will just focus on ourselves and try and go out and win the game as we always do. Last game at home as well, we want to give the fans something to cheer. We have had such a good season at home, we don’t want to stumble over the line. We want to finish strongly. The fans deserve us to put on a show for them.

“The support all season has been tremendous, home and away and I know the ticket sales for the final have been great. The fans have been right behind us all season. Even in games when we have not played as well, the fans have still been very supportive.

“It is an exciting time to be at the club. For the fans, players, everyone involved. The anticipation is building but as I say we have three games before then.

“The win against Hearts on Sunday was very important. It maybe takes the pressure off a little bit in the race for second spot but we still want to win. Every time we go out and play people expect us to perform well and get results, no matter who we are playing because we have done so well this season.

“I am sure Celtic will feel this is one of their toughest tests of the season. Most players will say this is one of the hardest places to come. No doubt they will be desperate to keep their unbeaten run going, so it will be a massive task for us to beat them but we are aiming to a positive result.

“A lot of people at the start of the season were righting off our chances of finishing second but we were always confident. We have proved people wrong.

“There has been a real togetherness this season from everyone involved with AFC. The fans relationship with the players and staff has been excellent.

“It is up to us to keep pushing ourselves on and to keep challenging ourselves to get better.”
