Aberdeen goalkeeper Aaron Lennox has this afternoon officially joined Scottish Championship side Raith Rovers on loan.
All the paperwork has now been finalised and Aaron will be part of Gary Locke’s squad for the full 2016/17 season.
The Australian keeper joined the Dons during the January transfer window and impressed greatly for Paul Sheerin’s U20 side. He was handed his Aberdeen first team debut in the final SPFL Premiership game of the season against Ross County.
The former Queens Park Rangers youth player was part of the Australian U23 side which took part in the Asian Under-23 championships last year which doubled up as an Olympic qualifying competition.
Following his release by QPR last summer Lennox joined Conference South side Hayes & Yeading United before heading North. Speaking at the club’s pre-season training ground base at St Andrew’s Aaron told us:
“I am really looking forward to it.
“I am looking forward to going down there, getting my head down, working hard and fighting for a first team spot.
“It is what I need at my age and at this stage of my development.
“Obviously with Neil and Joe coming in my chances for first team football at Pittodrie would have been limited this season so the club were right to send me out on loan so I can keep improving as a goalkeeper and I can get some more experience.
“I went today to meet my new team mates for the season. I was made to feel very welcome and they seem a good bunch of lads. Raith Rovers are a good club and I have been impressed by what I have seen so far.”
Everyone at the club wishes Aaron the very best during his time in Kirkcaldy.
