Scott Booth has today strengthened his Aberdeen Women squad with the addition of Irish defender Alix Mendez.

Mendez joins the Dons from Cork City, who she returned to in 2023. A virtual ever-present figure, Mendez missed just three matches for The Leesiders in 2024, where they reached both national cup Semi-finals.

Mendez first played senior football for Treaty United, after coming through their U17 setup initially.

A right-sided defender who can also operate at wing-back, Mendez goes straight into Scott Booth’s squad and is available for Wednesday night’s game against Partick Thistle at the Balmoral.

Speaking on her arrival manager Scott Booth said:

“Alix is a versatile young player who will bring even more competition to the squad. I am looking forward to working with her.”

Mendez is delighted to be joining up with the Dons. She said:

“I am really happy to be at Aberdeen, I think this is the place for me to develop and continue my career.

“I can’t wait to get going and I am really looking forward to Wednesday night.”
