AFC Women have made a major signing with goalkeeper Faye Kirby joining the club on loan from Liverpool FC Women.

A graduate of Everton FC Women’s Academy, the 19-year-old Liverpudlian rose through the ranks with the Blues before making the switch across the city to the Reds’.

The England U23 International joined Liverpool FC Women in 2022, making her debut in the Continental League Cup with her form earning her Young Player of the Year award last season.

“I am delighted to bring Faye to Aberdeen”, said AFC Women’s manager Clinton Lancaster.

“She has been in the youth teams at Everton before moving to Liverpool where she played in the FA Women’s Super League. As well as her domestic experience, she is an England International.

“To bring someone of Faye’s experience and ability to the club is fantastic. I hope Faye’s arrival will excite the fans and demonstrate how the club is progressing ahead of the new season kicking off.”

Faye believes Aberdeen will provide the right environment for her continued development and is looking forward to what lies ahead.

She added: “I’m excited for this new challenge and I feel like I could really develop here and take my game to the next level.

“It’s an exciting time to be joining the club and I’m looking forward to getting started.”
