Following the conclusion of the 2019/20 season, we can now provide supporters with an update on player departures.

First team players Greg Leigh and Jon Gallagher have now returned to their parent clubs and we would like to extend our thanks for all their efforts during the 2019/20 campaign. We continue to hold positive talks with Tomas Cerny regarding an extension to his contract.

Frank Ross and Danny Rogers have left the Club following the expiration of their contracts.

Frank made his debut against Dundee in 2015 and the attacking midfielder went on to make 14 first team appearances and had loan spells at Greenock Morton and Ayr United.

Danny was the second longest serving player at Pittodrie. The former Republic of Ireland U21 goalkeeper had loan spells with Airdrieonians, Dumbarton, Falkirk, St Mirren and spent last season at Morton. He made three appearances for the Aberdeen first team.

We can also now confirm the following players have been released from the development squad:

Goalkeeper Sam Jackson, defenders Luc Bollan and Lloyd Robertson, midfielders Sebastian Ross and Jack Chessor, wingers Sean Linden and Chris Antoniazzi and striker David Dangana.

And the following development players have been released after playing for Barry Robson’s U18 side last season, striker Kieran Shanks and defender Kyle Dalling.

Manager Derek McInnes said: “It is always extremely difficult when you have to release players, many of whom have graduated through the youth academy and have had an association with the Club for a number of years. It is particularly tough releasing players given the current situation, but all the decisions were based on assessments throughout the season and in line with our football strategy.”

The Club would like to thank all the players for their efforts at Pittodrie and we wish them well for the future.
