“We had to start well.

“St Mirren tend to start games quickly and we were well aware of that. We had to match that, and I thought we did that after starting pretty strongly.

“For the goal I saw the space and Matty did well to find me. I was in a good bit of space and just thought about getting a shot away at goal.

“It is something I have wanted to do more, it is something I need to do in my game – get shots away from the edge of the area.

“Thankfully that one found the back of the net.

“It was good to get my name onto the score sheet.

“Getting the early goal gave us something to hold onto.

“Being honest, I thought we got a bit sloppy.

“They did play well and put us under a bit of pressure, but they didn’t cause us too many problems.

“I can’t remember them having too many clear cut chances. We probably had the clearer of the chances. They had a wee bit more possession than us.

I did not think that we were at our best today but in cup football the main thing is getting into the next round and in this case, getting to Hampden.

“I have had ups and downs at Hampden. I am excited to get back there and put a few things right from last year.

“It is good for our season getting to a semi-final but we want to go one further and we want to win some silverware.

“I thought the fans were quality. It was brilliant they were all grabbing us at the end. Celebrating with the fans was really good. That is what it is all about.

“They came down in really good numbers after selling out the away end. Hopefully we repaid them by getting the win.”
