“It was an important game to win” Barry Robson was satisfied with a job well done as the Dons took all three points from challenging opponents in Livingston. “Livingston are well structured, organised, they’ll slow the game down when it suits them, they’ll put balls in the box and ask you questions, and good luck to them, they’ve been very successful doing that. They’re difficult to play against because it’s hard to get into a rhythm. “We expected a fight, we knew the second balls would be important, all those things, you need to be ready for the fight. You have to win second balls against any team. I remember Arsene Wenger doing an interview and he said it doesn’t matter how many great players you’ve got, if you don’t win second balls, you don’t win games. “The clean sheet was important for us and I thought the centre-backs were excellent. They want to defend, nothing else, they don’t want to concede goals. “Ramadani and Shinnie just want to go to war in the midfield, and if you want to win games for Aberdeen, that’s what you need to do. So when you’re dealing with that challenge Livingston offer properly, then you can play your football. “You mustn’t get the game the wrong way round, you need to win the fight and then win the game. We were up for the fight, the structure of the team was good, our distances were better, and that allows you to go and win balls in the middle of the pitch, to transition quickly which excites the fans. We’ve been working on that and we’ll continue to do that. If you do that right, you can get Duk, Bojan, Ryan Duncan running forward and that scares opposition teams.” Bojan Miovski took his tally for the season to 17 goals and Robson explained that is testimony to his single-minded approach to the game. “Whenever I see Bojan in the morning at training, I ask him how he is. “Run fast, score goals”, that’s all he says. He’s a good kid and scored another important goal. “But then Ryan Duncan was outstanding, he manipulated the ball well, dropped the shoulder, he needs to get quicker, sharper, but that will come. It was a quality ball in for the goal. It was good to have Ross back too. He can play midfield, centre-back, right-back. That adaptability is a great quality to have as a player and for a coach, it’s great to have that within your squad. He gives you energy, fight, enthusiasm, quality. “I know this team has got so much more in them and we want to see more of that as we go on. It was an important game to win, I think you can see the confidence coming back a little bit because we’ve played well in these last three home games. They want to do well, they want to win games, but it is a work in progress at the moment.”
