Vicente Besuijen was the Aberdeen man that changed the match during the thumping win over Livingston on Saturday, creating the first half penalty that turned the game in the Dons favour.
“I ran straight at their defender, just to press and to set the tone for the team, to be aggressive. I’m happy that it worked out so well, that we get a penalty and a red card.
“In the beginning, the game was hard, but the red card made it a little bit easier. We had more of the ball, we could find the right spaces, and it was nice to win with loads of goals in the end. We are Aberdeen, we play at home, we want to score lots of goals for our fans and give them a show.”
Vinnie got his first league goal of the season, firing in a second half penalty after Bojan Miovski stood aside for him.
“Bojan is our penalty taker, but we have a good relationship and when we got the second penalty, he looked at me and said, “I want to give you the ball.” That was very nice of him. It’s good he has a lot of confidence in me. If it happens like that again, maybe he will take both penalties.
“He has had a very good start, he has settled in well to the way we play. He runs in behind the defenders, he’s a real threat to the opponent, and it’s great for us to have a striker always hungry for goals.
“Today is why I love football, to get the ball, to beat defenders, and I hope we get lots of games like that because I am at my best when it is one versus one with the defender. I can help my team that way and I’m grateful it happened today.
“I just want to play well, give the team the best things I can, help assist goals. I want to have joy and when do you have joy? When you win games and when you play a big part in it.”
