It was a family affair for Adil Aouchiche as he scored twice in the Dons’ 3-1 win at Dens Park.
“My dad was here at the game with my cousin so it was nice to score for them. It’s not like every game they can be here, so it was good they picked this game!
“And it’s always special to score in front of our fans also. That’s why I scored I scored in the first half, because I wanted to be in front of them! They were so incredible, 4,000 of them today, that’s unbelievable, so we are happy to give then a win.”
Adil has become an increasingly influential figure in the Dons team since moving to a deeper position in midfield, but he is clear that he wants to add more goals to his game.
“I think I was a little bit unlucky with chances in the last games, so I had to do better. In this position, being deeper, these second balls are important, so as a midfielder you have to have a feel for it and you have to always come in as a second runner. I scored two today so it was good to move on as quick as possible after I missed one against St Mirren.
“Scoring goals is the hardest thing to do in football from anywhere, so you just need to practice a lot and have composure. I think I was like this today, so that was that’s why I can score two goals.
“I think we are improving in attack, we are so much better than the beginning of the season. It’s still not the best level we can do but we can reach it soon hopefully. Everyone here has a lot of qualities in the front, so the goals will come, we always knew this.”
The Dons move on to another midweek game on Thursday, against Strasbourg. Adil is looking forward to coming up against his countrymen.
“It will be nice to play a French team. It’s going to be good for me to speak a little bit of French with a few players before and after the games because no players can speak French in our dressing room. It will be a very tough battle against them. They are top of the group, they are more secure than us but we have the possibility to go through still, so we must win this game.
“We now have to rest and recover and prepare. The schedule is very tough but that’s the position you want to be as a footballer, you want to play a lot of games in a high level. it’s so much better to play games than training to be honest. But even though we won today, we have to win again on the next one now.”
