On Sunday there is a double header as the AFC Women’s team and the Reserves are in action.

At 1.00pm the Women play local rivals Cove Rangers at Balgownie and only need one point to clinch the Division One – North title and promotion to the second tier of Scottish Women’s Football. The girls have had a fantastic campaign and sit 11 points clear of nearest side Dunfermline Athletic with four games of the season left. They also have a superior goal difference. Earlier in the season when the sides met in the reverse fixture they produced an enthralling 4-4 draw, with Cove, who have had a fine season, producing an impressive comeback. These are the only points Aberdeen have dropped in the league this season.

Then at 4.00pm the Aberdeen Development side play their second game in a series of friendlies which is part of a new mini cross border tournament. Aberdeen will play home and away matches against Celtic, Rangers, Hibernian, Huddersfield Town and Brentford.Paul Sheerin’s side started their campaign with an impressive 3-0 win over Huddersfield in Brechin last week. This weekend we welcome English Championship side Brentford to the Balmoral Stadium. The friendly matches are for sides under the age of 21, although the rules allow three overage players and one overage goalkeeper to be used. Aberdeen can also field any of their young players who are currently out on loan.

The AFC Women and the young Dons would really appreciate your support if you can attend either or both games. Entry to both matches is FREE.
