Summer 2026 Squad Update

squad update

Following confirmation that Graeme Shinnie will be leaving the Club we can now provide an update on both our first team and development squads.

First-team players Ryan Duncan and Vicente Besuijen will depart following the expiry of their contracts.

A local boy who has been at the Club since the age of nine, Ryan leaves after making 53 first-team appearances following his debut aged just 16. He has netted on two occasions for The Dons.

The attacker has enjoyed loan spells at Peterhead, Queen’s Park, and Ross County, with his final Dons senior appearance coming in our 6-0 win over Dumbarton in the 2024/25 Premier Sports Cup.

We are also saying goodbye to winger Vicente Besuijen.

The Dutchman departs the North-east after four separate loan spells away from Pittodrie, spending time at Excelsior Rotterdam, FC Emmen, HJK Helsinki, and most recently returning to FC Emmen for the second half of season 2025/26.

‘Vinnie’ represented the Dons on 57 occasions after making his debut against Ross County during the 2021/22 campaign. He would go on to cap his debut season by winning our 2021/22 Goal of the Season Award for his stunning strike against Hibernian.

A brief resurgence to his AFC career under Jimmy Thelin saw him feature 14 times under the Swede, scoring twice, before injury curtailed his campaign, his last Dons appearance coming in December 2024.

Also leaving following the expiry of their short-term contracts are Tom McIntyre and Elvis Bwomono.

Returning to their parent club’s following the conclusion of their loan periods are Lyall Cameron (Rangers), Liam Morrison (Queen’s Park Rangers), Toyosi Olusanya (Houston Dynamo), and Dennis Geiger (TSG 1899 Hoffenheim).

Departing from our Development Squad are Conner Douglas, Oliver Green, and Tristan Stephen.

Both Alfie Stewart and Alfie Bavidge have both been offered extensions to their current contracts, alongside young defender Dylan Ross and we hope to have an update on their respective decisions in the coming days.

“On behalf of the Club, I’d like to thank all departing players for their contributions to Aberdeen FC”, said Dons boss Stephen Robinson.

“While I didn’t have the chance to work closely with all of them, their efforts have shaped the Club’s journey in some way.

“We wish them every success in the future.”
