Aberdeen boss Stephen Robinson was pleased with his side’s efforts over a gruelling week, which culminated in a draw at Easter Road.
“It's been a great week. I think the fixture list was very, very unkind to us with the travelling, the quick turnaround, and we've managed to finish this mini-block of games, two points off fourth and with a semi-final.
“It's credit to the players and the staff. I think they've worked tirelessly to implement what we're trying to do, and probably a point was deserved by both teams today.
"No arguments about the penalty. I feel if you defend that deep, you're going to make a mistake and get punished at some stage of the game. In the first half, our line of engagement was higher. I thought we played really well on the counter at times, some really good stuff. But ultimately if you drop deeper, you're open to a mistake, and we made one, made a bad decision, and we got punished for that.
“It was a good week to finish on before this long international break. First and foremost, the boys do need a break after six games in 18 days. People underestimate getting back at three and four in the morning and not having a recovery day the next day, because of the time and how long it takes to get back up and down the road.
“Then we'll work really hard for the two weeks leading up to the St Johnstone game, and an opportunity to go into the top four if we can manage to win against a very good side.
“I feel in terms of the press and the organisation without the ball, we are getting there. We have some really, really talented footballers as well, which you can see at times. There's still lots of work to be done. I'm not kidding myself. There's a lot of work to be done, a lot of transition at this club, and it was always going to be a transitional season.
“We have to look now at the positives after that run of seven games that included coming up against the top five from last season. It's a tough test for a brand-new squad, so, I feel like we've come out okay. Can we improve? 100 per cent. But I'm really, really proud of the players and staff after the last week.
“We needed some big performances, and Kevin Nisbet summed that up. Kevin has 12 goals, he was excellent today. A real captain's performance, his work ethic and his hold up play, as well as his goal. He's been superb for me since I came to the club. He's been excellent for me, and I'm very, very proud to have him as our captain.”
