St Johnstone post match | Adam Rooney

“It was a game of very few chances. “We knew what St Johnstone are like. They are very difficult to break down and they get men behind the ball. They play a lot of channel balls and make it difficult for you. It is frustrating when you can’t break them down and unfortunately we could not get that one chance to get a goal. If we get that then maybe the game opens up a little bit. “They make it difficult to get crosses into the box and then when you do get a ball over they have bodies in there. The delivery has to be very good.

“We had a couple of chances with headers from corners but they have also had some openings. Like in the quarter final of the League Cup, Joe has made a very good save from the free kick. He has touched the ball onto the post and then I think it has come off the back of his head and then Andy was in the right place to clear. We got a bit lucky on that one but as I say we had a couple of chances so the game was fairly even.

“We have to look to improve in the final third on Tuesday. We need to be more creative and get more balls into the box. We also need to get more shot off.

“You can’t just expect to go out and win every game. It is a tough league.

“Every game is different. We know that.

“It is disappointing only to get a point at home but it is a clean sheet, we take the positives and move onto Tuesday. We have to look forward to the game, we have to be positive going into it.”
