“There is a good buzz about the place at the moment. It is very rewarding when you get a performance and a result and that is certainly what we got against Falkirk and have got in the last couple of games.
“It was important we concentrated on the game and did not worry about talk about the pitch or other cup results. We prepared for the game properly and gave them the respect they deserve from their previous performances. We got our rewards for the professionalism we showed in our preparation.
“What was especially pleasing about the performance the other night was that the goals are coming from all over the park with defenders and midfielders scoring. Also the team that started the game, six of them came through the AFC Youth Academy. A lot of credit should go to Neil Cooper and everyone in the Academy. It is a really really positive thing for Aberdeen Football Club.
“All we have done is get ourselves into the Quarter Finals of the cup. It is important we keep the focus and just concentrate on one game at a time and see where it takes us.
“It is a good little period we are on at the moment because we look solid at the back and have a good defensive unit, but we are also carrying a goal threat. The players are all working very hard.
“Scott Vernon has certainly given us something to think about. It is very pleasing when you get someone who has been on the fringes of the squad, shows great professionalism to get himself back in it and then produces the form he produced and scores the goals he has scored. From a coaching point of view you cannot get better than that. It is extremely pleasing the way all the young boys have also taken their chance. It is important that everyone in your squad takes part.
“When selecting the team we look at every game on its own merits. You have to choose players for the requirements of each game. Once the injured players come back into the squad then we will look at who we have available and who is best for that game and take it from there.
“We will be playing a St Mirren side who will be desperate to get their first win. They know that one win can start to turn things around. We played them down there at the end of last season and I do not expect the game to be any different from that. They will make it very difficult for us. As for every game we will need to prepare properly and look and their strengths and weaknesses and see where we can exploit those weaknesses.
“Wins breed confidence so it is important that we keep the run going. It should not be underestimated how much hard work has gone into getting to this stage so we should not just let it go. It is important we keep the momentum going.
“There are no new injuries after the game on Wednesday. There is a good feeling about the injured players as they are not far away now. A number could be involved on Monday.

“There is a buzz about the changing room. That is four or five good results that we have had on the bounce. It was nice to score some goals. We have been playing well in games but not been taking our chances. Everything is now starting to come together.
“As a defender I am pleased we are keeping clean sheets. Teams are struggling to score against us. The fact we have kept five clean sheets in a row means we are getting some recognition for this and it is a talking point. It is great that we have had that level of consistency and hopefully we can keep in going.
“At the other end it is good everyone is chipping in with goals and we are not just relying on one player. Last season if Niall did not score we were not winning games. Certainly this year we are creating a lot more chances and we are now taking those chances.
“St Mirren are looking for that first win. Hopefully it will not come against us. We have to just concentrate on ourselves and make sure the Aberdeen team that turns up is the one that has been turning up in recent weeks. The Aberdeen team that has been working hard to make sure they won’t be broken down easily and the one who has been creating chances.
“We will now start to get more media attention because of the run we are on but we just have to deal with that. We want to keep the run going as long as we can. It s nice people are taking about how well the young boys have done since coming into the team and are not talking about which players are out injured.
“We showed against Inverness, who are one of the more physical teams in the league, we can match teams for physicality and we can take care of ourselves. We are not going to get outmuscled this season. We can scrap with teams if that is how the game goes. We will also get the ball down though and play football.”
