AFC in the Community deliver coach education for the North East
The Scottish FA in partnership with AFC in the Community deliver Scottish FA North Region Coach Education courses for Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.
On Tuesday 26th, Thursday 28th and Sunday 31st March a number of Coaches from Grassroots Clubs successfully completed the Scottish FA Coaching Footballers 13+ course at Banks O Dee Sports Centre, delivered by Community Coaches Steven Sweeney and Scott Duncan.
Coaching Footballers 13+ is a 12-hour course, designed to assist coaches with the planning, preparation, organisation and evaluation of their coaching sessions. The course focuses on coaching style and the use of differentiation, i.e. provision of practices to suit the wide range of abilities within the teenage to adult age groups. This approach is applied to different themes such as passing, dribbling, shooting etc.
Coaches from Clubs including Turriff Utd, Glentanar, Westdyke, RGU, Kemnay, Donside and Newtonhill were in attendance.
Jason Grimbley, Donside Juvenile FC (2001) Coach said, “Thanks to the Coaches who ran the Coach Education course the past week at the Banks O Dee Sports Centre. It was well received by all the participating Coaches who attended the course. Steven and Scott’s instruction, efforts and advice was very valuable and will help myself in preparing, organising and Coaching Football drills and skills to my players in the future. I would recommend this course to all team Coaches as it will benefit your teams.”
Brian Forrest, Coach at Cove Boys Club added, “Steve and Scott made the course very enjoyable, very informative, a well constructed course.”
John Chalmers of Donside stated, “I thoroughly enjoyed it and have learned lots. Steve and Scott did a great job and showed us many drills but more importantly how to interact with the players from a Coaches point of view. They very positive in everything they did.”
