“First and foremost it was disappointing not to take something from the game, not even a point.

“I thought we started the match pretty well and for the first 25 minutes we were doing ok and should have taken one or two of our chances. They then came back into it after that. They did not give us much time on the ball to pass it around.

“For me personally to get on the pitch at Pittodrie, make my first start for Aberdeen, I am delighted.

“All the boys on the pitch helped me. Andy next to me, has great experience as he has been here years and years. He talked to me all the time. Ash as well. Even Kenny up the top end of the pitch, was always speaking to me and telling me what I should be doing.

“Of course there were a lot more people here than you would have at a Development League game. But it is still just a game of football and that is the way I approached it. When you are on the pitch you are that focused on the game you don’t get affected by what is going on round about you.

“I was up against Juanma who is a good player and a big strong boy and once he gets you pinned there is not much you can do about it. I managed to win a couple of headers and thought I did ok.

“The experience of tonight will give me confidence and stand me in good stead for next season.

“Now I have a taste of it I want to keep going. I am looking forward to pre-season already.”
