Manager Scott Booth shared his thoughts at full-time after his Aberdeen Women side reached the Scottish Cup Quarter-final, three late goals enough to see them through in the end.
“We made hard work of it, and we talked about it at halftime. I think we had a slightly better reaction after the break. In the latter part of the game, we were in real control, kept the ball better, and were more connected as a team. Everyone worked extremely hard, and it was a good performance.
“Hamilton are a strong side with talented young players coming through. They were well-organized and caused us problems in the first half. That’s something we need to improve—ensuring we control the game from the start, manage our aggressiveness, and play good football. When we are at our best, we are connected as a group.
“We are a squad, and the players who started worked hard. It’s not easy for those who haven’t played much football to come in and immediately hit the ground running. I didn’t expect them to. I wanted to give them the opportunity to start. It was always going to be a tight game if we didn’t control possession and take our chances. We had opportunities in the first half, but they were limited. We need to create more.
“Kerry coming off the bench to score is a great feeling for a striker. She looks sharp, has a strong presence as a forward, and positions herself well to finish chances. She’ll be delighted with her second goal for the club.
“It’s great to have Laura back in the squad. She’s working her way back into contention for game time. Megan is also returning, having only trained once or twice before making the bench. Zoe has done well since coming back into the group, adding to the competition in the squad.
“Our objective today was to win and build momentum. In a cup competition, there are no points, but a win feels like three points. That’s three wins in a row now. The players should feel that they are progressing and working hard for each other. It’s our job to ensure standards remain high and that we approach every game with full commitment. The players must prepare properly, execute the game plan, and show the determination to win. They did that today.
“The games are coming thick and fast. Our next match is a league game in hand, and we know it will be tough. Partick have had a strong season, but it’s great to be winning games, and hopefully, we can carry that into the next fixture.
“There is still potential for loan signings until the 28th. We will continue assessing our options, and if we find the right opportunity to strengthen the squad, we’ll try to make it happen.“
