Scott Booth | Glasgow City Reaction

There was positives to take for AFC Women manager Scott Booth after his side fell to a 1-0 defeat at home to Glasgow City despite a much improved performance. "I think the thing is that we knew going into a game against the previous champions and then against a team that have been champions many times, that it’s a really tough start. However, what we wanted to do was to improve from last week in terms of us being better connected, having a foot in the game. "I think we did that really well. We worked incredibly hard.

I think we could have been a little bit better in possession, a bit braver at times in possession, particularly in that second half. I think we could have stood on the ball a little bit longer at times rather than giving it away cheaply, so that’s something that we can still work on for next week. "But we had a couple of really good chances to score late on and to take something from the game. However, we also know that Katie has made a couple of good saves.  "We need to be clinical in games, especially against the regular top five teams, because we know that we’re only going to get a limited number of chances. "We’re going into a game now against Montrose, and we know that again it’s going to be a different sort of game, but you just never know how many chances you’re actually going to get. Being clinical is going to be a really important thing for us this season. "I think last week wasn’t us. We weren’t the team that we are. We weren’t organised. We weren’t good in possession or out of possession last week. This week was much better. We did a lot of work on the training pitch this week to make sure that we were organised and made it difficult for Glasgow City to create chances. I think we did excel in that. "I thought everyone that was involved today worked really, really hard. And that’s what we know we need to do as a bare minimum."
