“I was getting conscious of the fact I hadn’t scored in a couple of games.
“So it’s nice to get a bit of pressure off my shoulders and get the two goals.
“I’ve taken enough penalties this season and every time I step up to the spot, I feel confident I’m going to put it away.
“We’ve got the two goals and we’ve won 2-0 so that’s my job done.
“Ever since I got on my goal trail, I was made well aware of the prestige that comes with scoring 20 goals at this club.
“Adam Rooney done it for numerous years and you see the plaudits he’s got for it. It’s a massive honour to get to that many goals.
“To be brutally honest the target at the start of the season was to get into the team and play as much football as I could.
“It was noted that I didn’t get off to the best of starts in terms of goalscoring so I was taking every game as it comes. Once the goals started tallying up, the target was to get to 20 goals and now I’ve got there, so it’s about getting above and beyond that.
“As a striker you’re always going to get judged on your goal return.
“I was conscious of it but it just comes down to putting in good performances because when I’m not scoring I need to keep helping the team out as well as I can.
“I’ve had to adapt my game. Sometimes the team relies on me to get goals and I’m happy to take that pressure as I put pressure on myself every game to score.
“The semi-final is now the biggest game of the season and we’re all relishing the chance to play there firstly, then hopefully get through and get the club to another final.
“Not just me, but all the boys are really looking forward to it.
“It’s been typical of us this season that we’ve put in our best performances against the strongest sides.
“The results we’ve had against Rangers and then Celtic a couple of weeks ago highlight that.
“The last time we played Celtic, you could argue that as much control as Celtic had we were unlucky to come away without a win in the end with the chances that we had.
“Two wins this week and we’ll take in a lot of confidence going into Sunday.
“The League Cup Final was a tough one to take. Everyone was proud of the boys with the performance and shift that we put in, but Celtic have that quality and they took that one chance. Hopefully our fortunes will change on Sunday.”
