the skipper previews Kilmarnock
Russell Anderson
“We’ve got good team spirit at the moment which comes from what we’ve done so far this season. We’ve gone to the end of games before and scored late goals. I think it just reinforces that we won’t really give up.
“I don’t think we deserved to be a goal down against United but we reacted in the right way and we came back and finished strongly – which we seem to do quite a lot. It was a good win.
“It would have been easy for the heads to drop. For United to go ahead 1-0 which they have done countless times this season at home you could have been forgiven for thinking this wasn’t going to be our day. I think the players deserve an awful lot of credit for standing up to it and coming back and winning the game.
“(On the fans) We always know we are going to get a good backing wherever we go. And the games at Tannadice are especially good, the atmosphere is always great. The type of match it was as well, it was a really good game to be involved in. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- we really appreciate the support we get and it never goes unnoticed. The gaffer try’s to hammer that home- that we are playing for an awful lot of people when we go out on the pitch. It’s good to get the backing that we know we get from them.
“It’s about consistency now – it’s about doing it again. Over the course of the season I think we have been consistent but we are only half way through it.You don’t get anything for how the league looks at this moment time. It’s what happens when the season finishes in May. So, we have to be consistent, we have to go to the next game and try and win that one which will be equally as hard, a game against Kilmarnock down there.
The key word at the moment is consistency and trying to replicate it week in week out.
(On expectation levels) “I think yesterday would have been an ideal example if we wouldn’t have been able to handle it- we could well have buckled after going a goal down. I don’t think the players really feel that pressure. If there is a pressure I’d rather it was that kind of pressure than the pressure you face when you are down the bottom end of the league and trying to make the top six or you are struggling from game to game trying to get a victory here and there. At this moment in time we can’t wait for the games to come around quick enough and you’d much rather be in that camp than the other one.
