“We are really pleased with the progress we’ve made in both competitions and we’ve got that to look forward to. But now it’s total concentration and focus on the league campaign. We know how important it is to us and we know that for us to achieve what we want to achieve we are going to have to keep getting results and we can’t afford to have too many disappointing results and performances. So we’ve got to try and keep them at a minimum and hopefully come Saturday we can have a good performance and hopefully the right result.
“I do feel as though the players are always motivated to play anyway and I think it certainly doesn’t do any harm in and around the place to have big games to look forward to. Again, it’s really important that we concentrate on the job in hand and we don’t look to far ahead of ourselves. I think the players are just desperate to play their part anyway and itching to be involved. There have been some decent performances of late and I think over the last two to three months especially there’s been a real consistency and it’ll need something again over the next two to three months to try and help us achieve what we want to achieve.
“The last time we went down to St Mirren Park it was something similar- we were going into it in great form. We were doing well in the league and in the cups and St Mirren were struggling at that time looking for a result. They were very good on the night and we were fortunate to get a draw. I thought we were deserving of the draw but it came late and I think St Mirren played very well that night and that result helped them in their quest to get results and get consistency- they went on a decent run after that. We know St Mirren are a good side- they’ve got good players. They like to try and play football and always try to get their better players to express themselves and it tends to be quite an open game against them which is something we are looking forward to ourselves.
“I thought the game here at Pittodrie in December was a game that was a bit more one sided if truth be told and I thought we were the better side but we are well aware of St Mirren’s strengths, they’ve got some very good players and we need to try and limit their contribution to the game.”

“It’s been a good start. Two games – two wins, a cup final reached and to knock Celtic out of the Scottish Cup is a very good way to start my Aberdeen career!
“Coming up here I didn’t know what to expect. I’ve been surprised with what I’ve seen so far- it’s been a good surprise to be honest. Playing with the boys in training I can see why we got the results we have.
“I played in the first 10-15 games at Brentford and there was a spell where I wasn’t playing and then I started to play again. I was virtually told then that my playing time was going to be limited there so I spoke with the manager and in the position I was in I felt that I needed to play football. Being out of contract in the summer I needed to be put myself in the best position to get myself the right move for me. So then I spoke to Derek McInnes and my agent and decided this was definitely the best place for me to come with the position the club is in. “

“Last week was up there with one of my best weeks in my career. We are in a cup final and we are still in the Scottish Cup. Many people said it was a make or break week for our season so it is pleasing we have come through it strongly. We know we have not got the job done yet and there is still a lot of football to be played. We must now forget about the cup competitions and focus on the league again. The cup games will take care of themselves and it gives us something to look forward to but we must concentrate on the league now. We have to keep plugging away in the league and hopefully that will be good enough to get the points need to get into that second spot at the end of the season.
“We are in a good place at the moment. The boys are on a high. We definitely have a good team spirit. A lot of credit must go to the Manager and Tony Doc. Everything is so positive. Everything is gelling together nicely.
“Any games I have played against St Mirren down there have always been difficult games. We know Saturday will be another very difficult game. The last couple of times we have gone down there it has been close. Danny Lennon sets his team up in the right way and they always play good football.”
