“I’m obviously delighted to receive the award from the football writers. Any award is an indication of a collective team effort and I’m delighted to accept it on behalf of everybody. I think as a club we’ve upped our game this season, the players and staff have worked extremely hard so any recognition anyone gets is down to a collective team effort.

“We suffered our first our league defeat in quite a while on Saturday and we’re well aware that draws at this stage of the season won’t always get the job down. There’s games to be won for us to be totally satisfied this season. The game tomorrow evening will be exciting as always and the fact that both teams have a lot to play for it should be an indication of the type of game it should be.

“It’s game on.

“We have two massive games for us and it’s good to have something still to play for at this stage of the season. European football will be great to bring back to the club but hopefully now, the one last thing we can go for it to finish the season strongly in second spot.

“It’s very disappointing to lose Adam (Rooney) on Saturday. He’s shown his quality since he came to the club. While it’s not too serious an injury he is ruled out for the next two games. Andy is still out, Clark Robertson is fit and ok for tomorrow night and Joe is still touch and go.

“We’re trying to keep the focus on the games but Shay has indicated he is enjoying himself here He’s a popular boy, we think there is still improvement in him but we’ll wait till the end of the season to sit down with him. I think he’s done enough to show he could be an asset to us.

“I think United’s still have an outside chance of European so I am sure they will be going for that. Any game against Aberdeen is big so there will be enough to make it competitive. They’ve had a really good season and the fact they have a Cup Final to look forward to suggest that. We expect a tough match.

“Going to Tannadice is one of the toughest fixtures any team can have but it’s one we enjoyed on New Year’s Day and put in a strong performance to win the game and I am sure it will be something similar required to try and give us a chance to win this one.”
