“I think we gave Gregg (Wylde) an opportunity to come here and we felt he had a part to play. He’s probably not had the opportunities that he maybe anticipated but the team has been doing well. When he indicated he might want to go out on loan I asked him to seriously think about what he could be giving up here with us this season. We decided rather than having the fall back of him coming back to us in the summer it might be best if he terminated his contract with us and negotiated with a team elsewhere. We wish him well and I’ve no doubt he’ll go and get regular football at St Mirren.
“Whether we use that wage or not remains to be seen. Getting a player out wasn’t something I needed to do. It has freed up a salary but I wasn’t under instructions to free that up. It’s the silly season when there is a lot of speculation but there is nothing imminent. All we’ve done is keep our ear to the ground and that’s where we are at the moment. We would look at anyone we think could help improve our team between now and the end of the season. We’ve got a lot of challenges ahead and while the window is open it would be remise of me not to look.
“We’re looking forward to this game. It’s our last one at home for a while. It’s always a tough game against Inverness. We’ve won two games against them, tight matches and two different matches but we’ve managed to come out on top in both games so I would expect something similar on Saturday and hopefully we can have the same outcome.
“Things can change quickly in this League so we need to concentrate on each game and build on the consistency the players have shown recently and we need to try and continue that good run.
We expect a tough match, they won’t be giving up on second spot, they’ll be coming here to win the match and we’re well aware of their motivation in the game and we’ve got to make sure we’re ready for that.
“Everybody is fit apart from Clark Robertson. Andy Considine is back in the squad which we are all delighted about. He’s trained fully this week so barring any setback he will come back in the fold on Saturday.”
Nicky Low is still suspended.

“When a club gets itself into the position that we have been able to do, every game takes on more and more significance as the season goes on and we get closer to the finishing line.
“I’ve said a few times this season already that the never say die attitude that the team has to games has played a massive part in the success we’ve had so far and there was no better example than last Friday night against Hibs.
“Saturday offers another really big test against an Inverness side who are always tough to play against. They’ve gone through a bit of a transition after Terry Butcher moved to Hibs, but they got a good draw at home last Sunday and they come here knowing that this is a big opportunity for them to close the gap on us.
“Confidence is high around the place as you would expect, but equally, we have to be careful that that doesn’t slip into complacency, which is something the manager will be reminding us of. However good the run of results you are on, the last result doesn’t matter – it’s only the next one that’s important.”
Andrew Considine
“It feels like I have been out for six to eight weeks with the amount of games we have had but it is actually only a month tomorrow. I have done a good ten days with the physios, I was back training with Neil Cooper and the U20s on Monday and then back with the first team squad on Tuesday so I am fit and available for selection.
“The phyisos deserve a lot of credit for getting me back fit ahead of schedule.
“The recent good run and the form this season is down to a number of factors. I think one of the main ones is the balance we have in the squad. You have the experience of players like Barry and Willo who have come in and then you have the young boys who have come on a bit more this season. Pete and Jacko have made a massive difference. I have known Peter for a long time and felt he just needed a run in the team and some confidence.
“Russell playing for us also every week has been a big factor. He is a massive player for us. Every week he is so consistent. Mark Reynolds has been brilliant as well.
“All the defenders take a great pride in the number of clean sheets. That is our job. It is our job to keep the ball out of the net and the forward players job to score at the other end. Although the defensive players have scored a few this season as well! It is good that everyone is chipping in.
“I have been watching all the games over the Christmas period. We are making steady progress. When the confidence is high you go into every game believing you are going to win. There is a great buzz about the club and the city at the moment.”

“We are looking forward to the game. With the hectic festive period now behind us it is good to get back to a normal working week. The boys are all fully focussed and have recharged the batteries.
“We go into a great deal of in-depth analysis on the opposition – however we know Inverness quite well as we played them very recently. The game is fresh in the mind. Hopefully we can repeat the first half performance from that game and not the second half one.
“We have an opportunity to put ourselves further ahead of Inverness, although they have games in hand. Hopefully we will still be in second spot on Saturday night.
“Inverness are a very good team. They are a well organised, well drilled, they are a strong side. They have had quite a few key players out recently so that has maybe contributed to a little dip in form but we know what to expect on Saturday. They will make things very difficult for us. In Billy McKay they have a top striker who is in great form at the moment.”
“I am not surprised by the current good run we are on at the moment. I see how many good players we have every day in training. It is very enjoyable coming into work every day.”
