Hard earned win sends Dons up to second in SPFL Premiership
Kilmarnock 0
Aberdeen 1 | Reynolds 82′ (Low sent off- 90′)
SPFL Scottish Premiership | Rugby Park | 4th January | KO 3pm | FT | Att: 4,073
A goal on 82 minutes from Mark Reynolds handed The Dons another hard earned three points on the road and sent them into second place in the SPFL Premiership in front of 1057 Dons fans in Kilmarnock.
In a game devoid of too many clear cut chances, The Dons had the better of the opening stages of the game and were unlucky not to take the lead when Ryan Jack’s header crashed off the bar. Killie came more into the game as the first half wore on and Langfield was forced into a good save from Chris Johnston. Kris Boyd had the ball in the back of the net but it was disallowed for a shirt pull on Russell Anderson before Russell looked on nervously as a clearance looped just over his own bar with Boyd lurking.
After the break though the visitors dominated and created numerous decent opportunities- Samson having to produce some decent saves while Langfield was forced into a couple of good saves from Clingan free kicks. However the Reds continued to search for a goal and got their reward when McGinn swung in a corner and the unmarked Reynolds headed into the back of the net with just 8 minutes remaining. Killie couldn’t muster a response but there was further drama for the visitors when Nicky Low was sent off in the final minute of normal time. The Dons saw out the final few moments comfortably and return back to the Granite City with all three points having won 12 out of 15 points over the festive period.
