Vernon and Robson on target as the Dons impress again
Aberdeen 2 | Vernon 19′, Robson 65′
St Mirren 0
SPFL Premiership | Pittodrie | Kick off 3pm | Full Time | Att: 9332
Aberdeen defeated St Mirren at Pittodrie this afternoon to record their third straight victory. With less than ideal conditions at Pittodrie, there was a very strong wind and rain, the Dons still played some really good football at times.
After a slow start Aberdeen had the better of the early stages. They created a couple of decent chances before Vernon picked up a long kick out from Jamie Langfield, pushed it past Kello and then slotted it away as the angle narrowed. Vernon should have added a second before the visitors came more into it as the half wore on.
Aberdeen regained control in the second half and got the all important second goal when the excellent Barry Robson scored directly from a corner kick to give his side a 2-0 advantage. It is the third or fourth time the midfielder has done this in his career.
There were chances for both sides towards the end with a Hayes cross hitting the post and a Vernon shot that went just wide. Langfield also made one very good save near the death which allowed the Dons to comfortably see out the game and also give Jamie his 12th shutout of the season and number 103 is his Aberdeen career.
