Dons battle to victory
Aberdeen 1 | Zola 53′
Dundee United 0 |
Pittodrie | SPFL Premiership | 3pm Kick Off |
Calvin Zola’s goal early in the second half was enough to give the Dons the three points in a pulsating game at a very wet Pittodrie. Dundee United had the balance of play in the first half but the Dons started the second half much better and were rewarded on 53 minutes.
After a really good passing move involving Flood and Pawlett the ball was played to McGinn. He fired in a really good first time low cross across the box was slid into the net by the Congolese striker.
The Dons continued to defend well under some intense United pressure- both Anderson and Reynolds were superb – however they were lucky not to lose a goal when David Goodwillie had a fantastic opportunity to score but Jamie Langfield made a fantastic low save on 74 minutes. United continued to pressurise the home side but the Dons held firm to claim a deserved three points.
