One goal was enough to give Aberdeen victory over Dundee at Pittodrie in the Friday night game. Niall McGinn’s 17th of the season on 17 minutes gave the Dons the lead in what turned out be a fairly lacklustre match with few chances for either side. Scott Vernon did have a good chance to open the scoring on 4 minutes but his shot was blocked by a Dundee player’s hand but referee Brian Colvin dismissed the appeals. Isaac Osbourne shot wide of the post on 38 minutes while Dundee hit the crossbar on 44 minutes and it remained 1-0 to the Dons at half time. After the break, Dundee came out fighting and Langfield had to make a good save from Gallagher before Osbourne cleared for a corner. McGinn flashed a shot across the goal but no one was there to fire home and the Dons ended the game with 10 men for the second game in a row- this time Osbourne was forced off with an injury after all three subs had been made. The Dons held on though to record their 3rd win of the season against the Dens Park side and to get their season up and running again.
