Celtic 2 | Commons (pen) 45′, Forrest 87′
SPFL Premiership | Pittodrie | Att 20,017 | 12.30pm | Full Time
Kris Commons and James Forrest scored late in each half as Celtic beat Aberdeen 2-0 in front of a full house at Pittodrie. Aberdeen had dominated the opening half hour but Celtic came more into it at the end of the first half and on the stroke of the interval Jamie Langfield was dismissed for a foul on Samaras. Commons beat Weaver with the spot kick. At the start of the second half McGinn had a great chance to score but his header was too close to Forster. Celtic then dominated possession but the Dons ten men worked extremely hard to keep their shape and limited Celtic to only a couple of chances which Weaver saved well. Aberdeen came more into it with ten minutes to go and McGinn had another chance to grab a late equaliser. As it was Celtic went up the other end and Forrest’s deflected shot looped into the net. The red card turned the game but there are still a lot of positives to take from this performance.
