In Saturday’s RedMatchday Magazine:
The featured player this week is Scott McKenna
“It probably all started with Scott Wright. He scored a hat-trick at the end of last season and also played quite a few games at the start of this season. Seeing him starting games, right at the start of a season, when it really matters as opposed to getting games at the end of a campaign when things are done and dusted, it made me realise that if you are good enough then the manager will play you. I got my chance and other boys are getting a chance to show what they can do.
“A big thing for me is the concentration and I think that has been decent enough in the games I have played. I would say I have done quite well but it is the small details I need to improve. For example, when I gave away a free-kick against Hamilton Accies, it led to a goal. You get punished at this level and it can make the game an uphill battle from then on.
“Every game I play in, I will watch the full game back again. I can never really sleep after games so I will watch the games back on RedTV as soon as I can, whether it be a midweek game or on a Saturday night. I am always trying to learn as much as I can. The important thing is not to make the same mistake twice and the things I am doing well, do them more often”.
Ryan Christie
“Hopefully we can push on now after our season stalled a bit over the past month. The aim since the start of the season has been to finish second and go well in the cups. We feel we are the second-best team in the country and we have got to show that. The manager has got confidence in us to do that and him turning down the Rangers job only adds to that. It shows he is happy with the squad of players we have and we can take that on to the park and hopefully kick on.

We were also all delighted for Scott McKenna. From set pieces you would expect Scott to get his head on a few but still, for a young boy coming into the team, I’m sure he will be delighted to get his first goal. That will do his confidence the world of good. Scott has been a breath of fresh air this season, a young player coming in with no fear and going all out in every game to do his bit for the team.
Plus Adam Rooney tells us about his new friend…
“There was a bit of craic on twitter. I don’t think anyone was more surprised than me when I saw the tweet from William Shatner. He was trolling me! And he started it! I thought it was a parody account at first but when I saw that he had two million followers I thought, “Wow! I need to come back at him”.
We picked our best Aberdeen & Hibernian XI, there is a Q&A with Craig Storie, Greg Stewart Poster, the FPs interview is with former Aberdeen and Hibs keeper Bryan Gunn.
Our top 20 AFC goal comes from Saturday 24th April 1976 when on the final day of the season Aberdeen played Hibs at Pittodrie knowing that they could still have been relegated.
