This season's RedMatchday Magazine is packed with even more exclusive and in-depth interviews, even more player features, more behind the scenes photos, even more historical features, even more columnists plus some new features.
And the RedMatchday team have been busy putting together three programmes in a week. So, that is 252 pages for our loyal readers to enjoy in the space of seven days!
In RedMatchday Issue 12, This week’s featured player is James Maddison:
…. “I know Joe Lewis is a Norwich fan, so maybe because of that he made me very welcome when I first came in. He is a really nice guy and on the pitch his performances speak for themselves. He has pulled off some incredible saves.
…. “Wes Burns is my room mate but all the lads have been great with me since I got here. Even though Ryan Jack was injured and out of the team at the time, he went out of his way to welcome me into the dressing room. I want to thank them all for being so good with me. Even off the pitch they will take it in turns to go for a coffee or some food to make me feel welcome because I am on my own. I have really enjoyed it”.
…. I practise every day, or every training session I am involved in. I have always practiced whenever I could. We used to get day release when I was in school from U13 to U16 level. We would come out of school one day a week to do extra training with Coventry and I used to go a bit earlier to practice free-kicks on the AstroTurf outside. It is just something that has been instilled in me. My parents always told me that practise makes perfect. I have always worked hard at my game and I will continue to do so.
Plus Anthony O’Connor, Peter Pawlett and Dylan Thomas. There are the usual columns from manager Derek McInnes, skipper Ryan Jack, Richard Gordon, and Chris Crighton.
In the Pittodrie People feature, video analyst Greig Thomson speaks to us:
… “Craig and Archie then took me to Pittodrie five years ago. When I came in here, I did not even have a computer. I was also Head of Performance Analysis at Blackburn under Sam Allardyce who is well known for the detail he goes into with the team. Over time, I was able to link up with the companies such as Sportscode and Pro-zone that he was using and implement it here. I wanted Aberdeen to be as cutting edge as they possibly could be.
… “We are also doing some really innovative and creative things here, which we believe is giving us an edge. But you can never sit back and relax. You have to keep ahead of technology so your club is ahead of the rest of the pack. Technology is moving so quickly.
…. “There is a culture in the club where they want everyone to push forward and to be the best they possibly can be. The manager encourages each member of staff to be as good as they possibly can be, every day you are in work. I feel we are the best in the country at what we do. You don’t always realise just how much you are pushing yourself and how much you are learning until you look back at where we were doing two or three years ago, then you fully appreciate how much we have progressed.
In the history section there is 16 pages of stories and photos from the Dons archive.
