Emma HUNTER: “We’re obviously immensely proud of the team, it was a different type of team today and a different type of challenge but I think we fought really hard. We worked really hard throughout the game and made it difficult for them to play. Credit to the girls, we played some really good football at times and I feel that we deserved the victory. There were so many positives we can go into the next round and take those with us. I’m proud of them and they should be proud of themselves as well”.
“Today’s game was particularly physical and the girls handled that really well, it can be difficult going from the league we’re playing in and coming into a game like this and the players always manage to pick themselves up and lift themselves for it. Thinking of the ages of some of the players in our team, it shows great confidence and bravery to go and match up with some older, more physical girls and we know that they can do that”.
Harley HAMDANI: “That’s philosophy and strategy we’ve been building for six, seven, eight months now and we probably got more of an opportunity actually try that today. We had to adapt more against Spartans and change elements of it to make sure we combatted some of threats they had but today we had a real chance to play our way in terms of in possession and out, it was our way of playing in that style and it was really pleasing”.
“We’ll take whoever comes to us (in the draw), similar to the last time around. We’re delighted to be at that stage of the competition and we’ve probably surpassed our initial expectations in terms of where we wanted to be. Hopefully we can go into the game with a game-plan, we trust the players to at least make it competitive”.
